Entrepreneur Martin Jørgensen takes CEO role at food tech start-up Foodback to lead global expansion
Stavanger, NORWAY – Leading business services tech entrepreneur Martin Jørgensen has been appointed CEO at fast-growing scale-up Foodback.
Jørgensen will spearhead the company’s global expansion as the food & beverage sector readies for a post-Covid boom in demand.
Foodback helps restaurants, take-aways, hotels and other food establishments gather direct, immediate feedback from customers through ratings and free-form comments. Responses are collected digitally, for example through a QR code sent to diners’ phones, or via SMS after the meal.
“Now is the ideal moment to build our operation because people will want to eat out again in huge numbers after Covid,” says Jørgensen. “Any dine-in or take-out establishment would benefit from Foodback. The sector is desperate for actionable data so they can better understand their customers. Covid has forced the world to become more digitally focused, driving an even greater need for businesses to communicate directly with their customers. That’s exactly what Foodback does.”
Throughout 2020 Foodback has invested in expanding its global reach by opening 10 offices covering 30 countries, including the USA, Australia, Singapore, UK, Nordics, Germany and Spain. In November 2020 Foodback launched a portal for restaurants to offer Covid test-and-trace check-in, menu reading and ordering, and meal feedback, all through scanning a single code.
We are very excited to get Martin on board. His entrepreneurial track record, wide network of contacts and demonstrated success in building international sales teams make him the ideal person to lead the company’s global expansion.
Jørgensen’s CV includes:
- Leader of a management buyout and later IPO of Via Travel Group, the largest corporate travel management company in Scandinavia, now owned by Expedia.
- Co-founder of etraveli, one of the world’s largest online travel agencies, successfully sold to major private equity investors.
- Owner and CEO of hotel commission processing and analytics company Net Trans, expanded from one office in Norway into a multinational market leader and sold to US private equity investor HIG Capital.
